Ability is a unique and timely anthology of landmark judgments that have shaped the landscape of disability jurisprudence in India. Edited and compiled by lawyer Navdeep Singh and academician Shruti Bedi, the book explores how constitutional courts have interpreted and advanced the rights of persons with disabilities, often bridging legislative gaps and bringing to life the liberal spirit of the law.

This book traces the evolving role of the judiciary in realising the avowed aims of a nation committed to a life of dignity for the disabled, and in doing so, reflects the law’s transformative potential. With contributed essays from distinguished judges of the Supreme Court and the High Courts, jurists, scholars, academicians and practitioners, this anthology makes complex legal concepts accessible to laypersons, policy-makers and legal professionals. It is not only a resource but also a vital social document—capturing voices, judgments, and reforms that affirm the constitutional promise of inclusivity and justice for all.
